Veterinary Pathology

Department of Veterinary Pathology

The Department of Veterinary Pathology is a fundamental component of veterinary education, dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of disease and their effects on animal tissues and organs. It provides comprehensive training in general pathology, systemic pathology, clinical pathology, haematology, histopathology, cytology, and necropsy techniques, enabling students to develop strong diagnostic and analytical skills essential for veterinary practice and research.

The department is equipped with well-designed undergraduate laboratories featuring compound microscopes, teaching aids for effective practical learning. Modern histopathology facilities support tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation. The clinical pathology laboratory houses , hemoglobinometers, hemocytometers, centrifuges, and urine analysis equipment for routine diagnostic investigations. A dedicated necropsy unit provides facilities for systematic post-mortem examination, disease investigation, and biological sample collection under biosafety standards. Advanced research infrastructure includes research microscopes, tissue processors, paraffin embedding stations, incubators, autoclaves, and refrigerated centrifuges. An extensive pathology museum with preserved specimens, histopathological slides, and digital learning resources further enhances competency-based teaching, diagnostic interpretation, and research-oriented education.
