Department of Animal Nutrition
The Department of Animal Nutrition is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge in animal feeding and nutritional management to enhance livestock health, productivity, and welfare. The department provides comprehensive undergraduate training in the principles of animal nutrition, feed science, ration formulation, feed evaluation, and nutritional management of different species, integrating classroom teaching with hands-on laboratory training.
The department is equipped with modern laboratories for proximate analysis of feed and fodder, feed quality evaluation, mineral analysis, and nutritional research. Students gain practical exposure to feed formulation, laboratory analytical techniques, and nutritional assessment of livestock feeds using contemporary instruments.
The department also conducts farmer-oriented extension programmes, nutritional advisory services, and training programmes to promote scientific feeding practices and improve livestock productivity.
