Anti-Ragging

1. Introduction

Parikrama Veterinary Science College is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive academic environment. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited on campus, hostels, classrooms, and all associated premises. This policy outlines the guidelines, preventive measures, disciplinary actions, and support mechanisms against ragging.


2. Definition of Ragging

Ragging constitutes any physical, mental, emotional, or psychological harassment or any act that causes fear, shame, embarrassment, or discomfort to a student. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Verbal or written abuse
  • Forced activities, tasks, or behavior
  • Physical intimidation or assault
  • Public embarrassment or humiliation
  • Cyberbullying or online harassment
  • Any activity that violates an individual’s dignity or personal freedom

3. Zero-Tolerance Policy

The college follows a ZERO-TOLERANCE approach towards ragging. Any student found involved in ragging, directly or indirectly, will face strict disciplinary action as per the UGC Anti-Ragging Regulations, Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, and college rules.


4. Preventive Measures

Parikrama Veterinary Science College ensures the following:

  • Mandatory Anti-Ragging Undertaking from all students and parents
  • Anti-Ragging awareness programs, workshops, and orientations
  • Installation of CCTV cameras in sensitive zones
  • Formation of Anti-Ragging Committees and Squads
  • Display of helpline numbers and regulations across campus
  • Strict monitoring at hostels, canteens, classrooms, and common areas

5. Anti-Ragging Committees

a. Anti-Ragging Committee

Responsible for overall monitoring and ensuring a ragging-free environment. Includes senior faculty, administrative staff, parents’ representatives, and student representatives.

b. Anti-Ragging Squad

Conducts routine checks and surprise visits in hostels, corridors, and common areas.


6. Reporting and Complaint Mechanism

Students may report any instance of ragging through:

  • Direct complaint to faculty or anti-ragging members
  • Anonymous drop-box complaints
  • Email / Online portal (if available)
  • Anti-Ragging Helpline: (Insert Number)
  • College Counsellor / Student Welfare Officer

All complaints will be treated with strict confidentiality.


7. Disciplinary Actions

Depending on the severity of the incident, any one or more of the following actions may be taken:

  • Written warning and apology
  • Suspension from class/academic activities
  • Debarring from exams
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Rustication from college
  • Filing of FIR and legal action as per law

8. Responsibilities of Students

  • Treat peers with respect and dignity
  • Report any ragging incident immediately
  • Cooperate with inquiries and anti-ragging initiatives
  • Avoid participating in or encouraging ragging in any form

9. Responsibilities of Staff and Administration

  • Create awareness through meetings, posters, and orientation sessions
  • Conduct timely inspections in hostels and campus areas
  • Take immediate, fair, and unbiased action on complaints
  • Support victims emotionally and academically

10. Support for Victims

The college ensures:

  • Counseling and emotional support
  • Protection from further harassment
  • Confidential handling of cases
  • Academic support in case of disruption due to incidents

11. Undertaking

All students and parents must submit the mandatory Anti-Ragging Undertaking each academic year as per UGC guidelines.
